Our History

A journey of enterprise spanning more than seven decades.

The sacred land of Hazrat Shah Makhdum, Rajshahi was long known as the “store house” of crops. From an unknown time Rajshahi has been famous for its business activities — later noticed by Europeans, who came here for trade and established their business houses, named “Borokuthi,” “Lalkuthi” and others.

In 1947, after the end of British rule, the businessmen of the day sought to reunite and improve their trade. In continuation of that effort, a number of dedicated and famous businessmen made a great leap to establish the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce in 1951 as an organization for businessmen — registering it under the Company Act of 1913 and preparing its Memorandum of Articles and Association.

Over the decades that followed, the chamber grew into one of Bangladesh's premier trade bodies — advocating for regional industry, building its own Chamber Bhaban, and holding ‘A’ Class status within the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry.
